Karma Dog Training

FOUNDER, DIRECTOR, CEO Known for his inimitable ability to modify a dog's behavior from the inside out, Jeffrey Brian is a veterinarian recommended behavior specialist and professional member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT # 67243), an organization which prides itself with a mission toward enhancing the human-canine relationship through education and dog-friendly training. In addition, Jeff is also a member of the International Association of Canine Professionals (IACP # A-2598) as well as the Southern California Dog Trainers' Forum. Jeff is also the founder of the non-profit TPSP (TPSP #1) Trainers who Participate in Socialization Parties, an organization comprised of professional dog trainers and licensed veterinarians who have joined together in the interest of puppies everywhere to help facilitate the all-important socialization process. In addition, Jeff is the creator of the "Dogs in Recovery" program which is a 12-step program/support group for owners of dogs with aggression issues. Not only that, Jeff has developed a Zen like application for training called the "Karma Dog Training Method", that is considered among his clients to be the most gentle, effective and enlightened approach to puppy/dog training available.

Jeffrey is also quickly becoming a rising star in Hollywood. He and his 3 male pit bulls - Brian, Louis and Scottie - were featured in the full-length documentary entitled "American Pit Bull" produced by Oscar nominated Braverman Productions. His first book entitled "A Walk Towards Heaven" will be published by the end of the year. Most recently, Jeff appeared on "The Denise Richards Show" on E! Entertainment, as a guest trainer.

Born and raised in New York, Jeffrey's ability to empathize with what an animal is feeling had always been commonplace to him, but it wasn't until he rescued 3 male pit bulls from a life of being at best guard dogs, and at worst fighting dogs, did his awareness expand to the higher understanding that from an energetic standpoint, these extra sensitive animals will become exactly what they are given.

Jeffrey studied this mastery earnestly and he started working on an advancement in the way we consciously interact with our canines, one which would support a new paradigm in the dog world. His philosophy that training dogs can be done without force or physical punishment was the foundation for his priniciples but more importantly was a purposeful awareness of the process used to achieve any desired change.

Acknowledging his twin brother's admonition to "Give Him More Love!", Jeffrey adopted the foundation for all of his training with what he now calls "Karma Relating."

Karma is action, and the law of Karma says that in every moment of our life, we have access to an infinity of choices. But there is one choice that it is karmically appropriate and that is the choice which brings joy to the choice maker and brings joy to those that are affected by that choice.

From this understanding, he created the "Alpha Angel" principle of intention. A principle that says: True Leadership is where someone is truly looking out for your highest good and it's very easy to follow that energy. By creating an environment where both the human and the dog are consistently experiencing feelings of well-being, harmony and balance, total fulfillment becomes not only the end result, but becomes the process as well.

For years he assiduously researched hundreds of books on domestic dogs and personally learned from the most venerable dog trainers in the dog world including Cesar Millan and Paul Owens, but it was through his own perception and first-hand experience raising 3 male pit bulls, without ever resorting to a choke collar or a crate, that over time Jeff developed his own caring approach to training —resulting in smiles and wags all around.

Having kept a daily journal of the progress he was making, his first book "A Walk Towards Heaven" - the theory behind Karma Relating, began to write itself.

With a loving family of 3 male pit bulls, a German Shepherd and Shar pei/Shepherd Mix by his side, he continues on a joyous journey where each new day is an exploration of how deep unconditional love can be. "A Walk Towards Heaven" (pictured below) is expected to be completed in the spring of 2008.

HEAD TRAINER Aimee Burton was born and raised in San Diego, California. Growing up with animal lovers and a Veternarian for a father she was never without several animls in her household. Adopting both her Grandmother and Mothers love for horses, Aimee started riding and eventually training horses as a teenager. Working at her parents Animal hospital from junior high school through college, she learned hands on animal behavior and handling, as well as animal care. After getting her own dogs as an adult, Aimee began studying the teachings of top animal trainers such as, Pat Owens, Pat Miller, Nicole Wilde and Cesar Milan, taking only what felt right from each new piece of material. Aimee met Karma Dog Training owner and founder, Jeffrey Brian, after hiring him to assist with her very frightened, neglected and abused 4 lb. chihuahua she had rescued from the city pound. She instantly felt a connection to Jeffrey's kind and loving approach to dog handling, and after their first session was invited to accompany Jeffrey to his group and in home sessions to learn the "Karma Dog" methods. She now teaches the Puppy Kindergarden, Puppy Elementary, Basic Obedience 1 and Basic Obedience 2 classes as well as in-home visits for Karma Dog Training. Aimee lives in Burbank, Ca. wither her 3 dogs, a 7 yr. old Doberman Pinscher, a 3 yr. old dachshund/chihuahua rescue mix, and her little 4 lb. lucky charm that introduced her to Jeffrey, Ginger.

Growing up dogs and horses were always the most important creatures in her life. "Dogs have been beloved companions at every stage of my life, and always will be." In addition to being a professional member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (A.P.D.T. # 73600), she's has also spent time working under the legendary Stan Kunin. As Cece puts it, “I love dogs, love to be with dogs whenever possible, and enjoy being around other people who love dogs and are responsible, caring dog owners.” For Cece, helping dogs and humans communicate and understand one another better is a lifelong passion. It’s her belief that so much of the neglect and cruelty toward all creatures in our world is a tragic result of ignorance, misunderstanding and frustration. “Animals are a blessing in our lives and deserve to be treated as such. I want to be part of the solution whenever possible.”

KARMA DOG TRAINER Born and raised in southern California, Nikkis passion for animals has led her to becoming one of only two head trainers Jeffrey Brian has personally mentored and the first trainer ever to accompany him on private in-home consultations. A horse enthusiast and trainer for most of her adult life, Nikki's sequey into professional dog training was a natural transition.

Nikki is a strong advocate of the gentle approach to dog training. Through the teachings of Jeffrey Brian, she has studied the methods of renowned trainers, Paul Owens and Cesar Milan, and is convinced that a positive and gentle motivational approach to training yields the most effective results and is in complete harmony with the dog.

Nikki chooses to work with Jeff and Karma Dog Training due to her personal beliefs in spirituality and the importance of incorporating it into training.

Additionally, Nikki helps save stray and ferral cats and works to educate others about the plight of stray animals.

When not training, Nikki shares her time between her 2 horses, 2 dogs, and 5 cats. She loves her animals and provides them with the best possible attention and care.
